AELÉA

is the Greek word for Olives. It is pronounced æÉLĚa (the first letter “a” is silent, and the word sounds similar to the “Aegean” sea).

MYTH

According to the ancient myth, Goddess Athena bestowed two sacred gifts to the ancient city of Athens: the olive tree and her name. This is why olives, olive oil and the olive tree are almost sacred in a way, for Greeks.
